Einstein's 1905 postulates, true or false, entail the following conclusion:
If two clocks are in relative motion, either clock runs slower than the other as judged from the other clock's system.
The conclusion is absurd and causes unbearable discomfort. In the end human mind rejects it in one of two possible ways:
1. A free mind applies reductio ad absurdum. The conclusion is absurd, therefore an underlying premise (one of Einstein's 1905 postulates) is false.
2. An indoctrinated mind replaces the conclusion with a less discomfortable version, e.g. "moving clocks run slower than stationary clocks", "time slows down for the traveler", "time stops at the speed of light", etc. All replacements are non-sequiturs (don't follow from Einstein's 1905 postulates) but indoctrinated minds couldn't care less.
